Khanike is a short stay home for families having mentally disturbed member. Five such families may stay at a time.
The building is situated in a lash green surroundings of plants, agricultural field and water body.
The "collective" living of the patients, their families, friends and trained volunteers in an mentally refreshing, inhibition-free environment can give a feeling of well-being to all present. The idea is to develop a feeling of 'extended family'.
It is not a nursing home. The persons with acute problem cannot be accommodated. It is run more or less on self-help basis to minimize expenses,
Besides taking care of one's own affairs, the guests are expected to take part in the day to day functions of Manas according to their ability. They may take part in clinicjob, in office work, in gardening, in agricultural or in similar other works.
